„Birt” is the old word for a tavern - the place where you stop, sit by the fire, and eat your fill. That's what we are.
In the oldest quarter
Șchei is Brașov's old Romanian quarter - home to St. Nicholas Church, the First Romanian School, and lanes that climb toward the mountains. Here, steps from Piața Unirii, we lit the fire. Not in some cold, brand-new spot, but in a tavern as it should be: wood, stone, iron and the smell of smoke.
Fire at the centre
Everything begins with the coals. We don't cook to be fast, we cook to be right: meat seared over live fire, naturally smoked, allowed to take its flavour from the wood. The fire isn't decoration - it's our kitchen.
Game, done right
Venison, wild boar, exotic cuts - game is what sets us apart. We source it only from legal, certified suppliers, with paperwork in order. That's not red tape: it's the guarantee that what reaches the grill is clean, traceable and cooked with respect for the animal and the guest.
The spit-roast, a spectacle
For groups and special occasions, we turn a whole spit-roast over the fire. It's a meal and a sight at once - pork, lamb or venison, turned patiently for hours. Order it at least 48 hours ahead.
Come feel the fire. We'll be waiting in Șchei.
